We all are pretty accustomed to open source software, whereby these types of software provide various functionalities, at little or no cost. Apparently, it seems that there’s something called the open source Qbo bot, whereby this particular robot runs on the Qbo open source robot project.
Basically, Qbo’s system runs on the original Java API which has been converted into ROS, and Thecorpora, the organization which is responsible for the open source project, has recently disclosed that they are 99.9% close to completing the project. On the other hand, the Qbo can be controlled with any gaming console controllers, whereby you can plug in your WiiMote or PS3 controller to give the robot instructions.
And if you want to get your hands on one of these machines, you’d be delighted to know that Willow Garage will be retailing their ROS-powered PR2 bot pretty soon.
